Good News for Soybeans

New LibertyLink(R) soybeans with Ignite(R) herbicide is the only nonselective alternative to glyphosate-tolerant systems. LibertyLink soybean varieties combine high-yielding genetics with built-in tolerance to the powerful, postemergent weed control of Ignite herbicide. LibertyLink soybean varieties are high-yielding with no yield drag or lag associated with the trait.

Ignite herbicide provides outstanding, over-the-top control of more than 120 broadleaf weeds and grasses in soybeans, including pigweed, ragweed and lambsquarter.

SAVED SEED

If you are considering planting Roundup Ready soybeans this year, know up front that as a condition of sale, you cannot save seed from this crop to replant. Monsanto has certain patents on Roundup Ready Technology that provides them protection to recover their investment and they actively pursue cases of seed piracy. Seed piracy creates a very uncomfortable situation for all reputable producers and seed companies that abide by the rules to access the technology.

BENEFITS OF NEW SEED STATEMENT

Saving seed from previous year's crop for planting the following year is a practice that some producers follow. It is tempting to try and save money by replanting your own crop, but as you analyze your entire cost of production, you may find that buying high quality seed every year may be your smartest money spent. We go to great lengths in production, testing, processing, and quality control to make sure that your crop investment is not compromised by poor quality seed. A poor crop at the start will be a poor crop at harvest!

Convenience

* Highest quality and highest yielding product vs. bin-run.

* Access to the most elite germplasm

Economics of New Seed vs. Bin-Run

* Bin-run planting rates are generally 15% higher than new certified seed.

*Average loss of 10-15% cleanout at harvest for bin-run seed.

* Handling and transportation costs for bin-run (approx. $.35 -$.75 / bushel).

Limited Warranty Benefits

* Dealer agronomic support before and after the sale.

* Risk management benefits of Roundup Rewards (over $500 million paid to growers since 1997).

New Innovations

* Royalties provide research and development of new traits and higher yielding germplasm.

* Seed companies and Monsanto are committed to our customers.
